Beacon Health and Safety is a NEBOSH accredited centre (No: 489) and offers courses at Certificate level.
Courses Offered
The National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health
A globally recognised health and safety qualification held by nearly 100,000 people in the UK and world-wide. It is aimed at managers, supervisors and employee safety representatives who require a broad understanding of health and safety issues and the skills to effectively manage workplace risks.
The National Certificate in Construction Safety and Health
A health and safety qualification aimed at those who are responsible for the day to day management of construction work and who are required to provide advice on health, safety and welfare within the construction environment.
About the Courses
Both qualifications are recognised by the two main health and safety professional bodies:
- The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) for grade of Safety Technician (TechIOSH);
- The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) for associate membership
- the management of health and safety.
- controlling workplace hazards.
- a practical assessment where candidates are required to carry out an inspection of a live workplace and produce a short report on their findings
- two written papers of two hours each.
Part Courses
For those who do not wish or need to study the whole syllabus, NEBOSH accept candidates for examination in part 1 of the syllabus (safety management and law).
This means that for some people, managers and directors for example, who wish to learn more about the management and legal aspects of health and safety, may study just that part of the syllabus and sit part 1 of the examinations.
If successful they will recieve a certificate from NEBOSH which verifies competence in those areas of the syllabus.
If at any time within the next five years candidates wish to study the remaining parts of the syllabus and sit part 2 of the examination and undertake the practical assessment, then the part 1 certificate will count towards their full qualification.
